This workshop is for artists seeking guidance on the longevity of their artwork. Art Conservator Gloria Velandia Ludmer will advise on the safekeeping of artwork and concerns to be aware of in the making of new work. We will investigate materials, treatment, and preventative conservation, with a focus on 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional artworks.

Designed to be an interactive group-learning experience, the content will be based on questions and topics submitted by the audience in advance of the workshop. Participants are also encouraged to bring images to share with the group (loaded onto a phone, tablet, or usb drive).

Gloria Velandia Ludmer, Chief Conservator, GV Art Conservation
Gloria Velandia Ludmer is an Art Conservator with over 20 years of experience in private practice, residing in New York City. Her private practice was established in 1989 in Miami, Florida where she became involved with important Latin American and Contemporary collections in the U.S.

Along with Sam Keller, Gloria created the Art Basel Conservation Department and has continued, since 2002, to serve as the Preferred Conservator of Art Basel Miami Beach. She is also a guest lecturer at venues such as Sotheby’s, Christie’s, Philips De Pury, Appraisers Association of America, art fairs worldwide and an advisor for numerous renowned contemporary artists and collections.

Gloria earned her Master in Conservation and Science and Bachelor in Fine Arts from the School of San Fernando, Spain.  She studied Chemistry at the University of Pennsylvania and holds a Master in Chemistry for Conservation from Tufts University.  She continues her learning via courses and professional seminars to stay on top of the latest technologies and trends in conservation.
